MAC Installation

Post by 5puj47980xk » Wed Feb 27, 2019 8:06 pm

Hi! Migrating to houdini_
Problem loading MOPS_

Version: 17.0.352 Apprentice
OSX: 10.14.3
Folder-path: attached image

houdini.env here:

# HOUDINI_NO_SPLASH = 1

MOPS = ”/Users/5puj47980xk/MOPS-master"

HOUDINI_PATH = "$MOPS:&"

HOUDINI_OTLSCAN_PATH = $MOPS/otls;@/otls
HOUDINI_TOOLBAR_PATH = $MOPS/toolbar;@/toolbar
HOUDINI_SCRIPT_PATH = $MOPS/scripts;@/scripts

I watched the video tutorial, i've read two posts on the forum and still not sorting out :lol:

Help, please

You don't need to explicitly define HOUDINI_OTLSCAN_PATH or any of those other paths anymore besides HOUDINI_PATH. Just set HOUDINI_PATH to be /path/to/mops:& and you should be all set.

Glad you got it working! Since you've already defined the variable MOPS, your environment could instead just look like this:

MOPS = "/Users/5puj47980xk/MOPS"
HOUDINI_PATH = "$MOPS:&"

Like a few others, I'm having an issue getting MOPS to show up and I can't figure out why -
This is the only bit I have commented out in my houdini.env file:

Code: Select all

HOUDINI_NO_SPLASH = 0

MOPS = "/Applications/Houdini/MOPS"
HOUDINI_PATH = "$MOPS:&"
the houdini.env file that I've edited lives here:
~/Library/Preferences/houdini/17.5/houdini.env

and my MOPS dir is here:

Code: Select all

quinn-adsk@qBookPro:/Applications/Houdini/MOPS$ ls
LICENSE           README.md         examples/         mops_logo_01.png  scripts/
MOPS.json         VERSION.txt       icons/            otls/             toolbar/
Any help would be appreciated.

Try removing the spaces in your variable definitions, maybe? And remove the quotes around the HOUDINI_PATH definition. Like this:

Code: Select all

MOPS="/Applications/Houdini/MOPS"
HOUDINI_PATH=$MOPS:&
You can also try the new simple MOPS.JSON installation method, it's much simpler and doesn't require you to edit the environment. It's detailed on the README.MD frontpage on Github.

OK... I tried modifying the lines as advised.
No success.
Tried the JSON install procedure.
Here are the directories and associated files:

Code: Select all

quinn-adsk@qBookPro:~/Library/Preferences/houdini/17.5$ ls
QtWebEngine/        desktops.pref       file.history        hcomposite.pref     houdini.pref        packages/           stats/              ui.pref
asset_store/        dir.history         font.cache          hotkeys.pref        networkeditor.pref  palette             tool.pref           wingeo.pref
config/             dso.cache           hcommon.pref        houdini.env         opencl.pref         scriptedpalette     toolbar/
quinn-adsk@qBookPro:~/Library/Preferences/houdini/17.5$ cd packages
quinn-adsk@qBookPro:~/Library/Preferences/houdini/17.5/packages$ ls
MOPS.json
quinn-adsk@qBookPro:~/Library/Preferences/houdini/17.5/packages$
No success.
Really wish I could figure out what I'm doing wrong. I feel like I've conquered more technical problems than this in the past (i.e. linux audio routing). Yet this is stumping me.
